parting words were given by Brigadier General Eduardo Álvarez Manuel Morales who on behalf of all the soldiers that make up the Army of Guatemala, said following:
"We are family, come from the same mold, as soldiers have shared experiences, we know and understand us so I think through my speech today both say goodbye we, as those celebrating their golden wedding with the nation, relive their youth and renew their commitment axiological with it.
military life is unique and unparalleled, there are many experiences and challenges from young beardless face and resolve, with complete awareness of how hard; but filling our hearts with songs, always ready to fall and rise.
In the life of every soldier there are two moments that are crucial, critical and unforgettable first is when we abandon our families to enter an extremely demanding environment, disciplined and sometimes exhausting.
Only those with true vocation of soldiers to survive as men of honor, feel compelled to practice a life dominated by the virtue, reason, the sacrifice and the lack of material goods.
Multiple tests are presented in the way each is tempering our character, is forming our thinking and will give meaning to our philosophy of life.
Because only those who risk their lives, leaving their best years in the battlefield and who quietly swallowed the resentment of the insults, understand that the most valuable thing a man possesses is life.
That this only happens once we and therefore we must seize it, so that we do not weigh years lived, the shame of a wretched past and we mean no burning and dying can say: I have devoted my entire life and all my strength to the most beautiful in the world, to defend my country.
Our families suffer forever, our absence, the uncertainty of our destiny, the conviction that we must learn to be self-sufficient for the guidance and strength rarely home is present. Our wives and our children learn to survive, to be strong and radiate that strength to the household head for this never falter.
Over time you learn that a soldier is not an absolute concept. is relative to the person who looks at him, surrounding him, according to his way of thinking, depending on when you look at it.
No matter the concept, the life we \u200b\u200bhave experienced intensely so appreciate very well, the meaning of a heartbreaking goodbye, a hug, a tender kiss , a distant mother, a girlfriend desired, a withered flower, faded portrait a letter written with tears and full of promise, a rictus of pain, a song full of memories, a sleep under a tree, a sweet dream .... just a dream, to the smoke of a cigarette, a repressed desire, a day and a distant hope, as soldiers know hunger, fatigue, thirst a kiss, the heat of the powder and the cold of death.
Among our most valuable treasure forever those cards will be handwritten by the small hands of a girl or a boy, saying how proud that feel of having a soldier as a father and to attach a photo to never pass anything wrong. That is and will always supply power to all who wear the military uniform.
Along the way we learned to overcome the failures with new challenges, will bury the losses and sowing hope, imagining that one day that child will hear our story and inspired her to begin to forge their own.
Today every one of you can share those stories, to move its experience, take that sage advice that will guide and example to help build a better country.
