The Hexayurt are "house." Plates are constructed of any material that comes into action (apparently standard) "twice as long as it is wide." For example, 120 cm x 240 cm. Or, for that measure in feet, 4 feet x 8 feet.
The Hexayurt "classic" has 6 walls, each panel supported on the long side. The roof is a sort of blunt cone, more like a pyramid, formed by six faces, each of which is a triangle with a cut on the diagonal panel, and the long legs of the two triangles joined by half. It is easier to see than explain. In total 12 panels are used.
There are other variants, instead of 6 sides have 5, so that the roof is sharper (useful for sites where it snows). Or if you use more panels to make a more elongated Hexayurt or higher.
- The Hexayurt "H13" is a variant, a recent and very witty, which uses only panel multiplies more but about the space in which can stand for 1.6 or something.
- hexayurts There are also two "jumbo" means the TRIDOM and quad-dome.
The videos that follow are the classic, the H13 and the quad-dome.
As for the quad-dome, if you see the second video you will see that, I think, I have found a practical way to build real-size, make the 4 walls and the 2 halves of the roof, and then put it all together So starting with the walls (or at least 3 walls) and then placing the roof. Will have to see what angles (wooden dowels that screw the boards) are necessary if it is a quad-dome of wood.
If you do one or more hexayurts, you can put them on the map hexayurt.crowdmap.com .
